If you’re craving juicy, melt-in-your-mouth tacos, don’t skip Puerco de Oro.
Admittedly, I only tried this place recently after a local friend was shocked I hadn’t eaten here while living in Versalles. He was right to insist! I went with Puglo, and we both left happy and full.
Once a hole-in-the-wall, it’s had a glow-up and now boasts a modern setup with plenty of tables. Their pork belly tacos are unreal, and the carnitas are some of the best I’ve had in Vallarta.
The menu is focused on pork (as the name suggests), with standout items like crispy pork belly tacos, pork in salsa verde, and even a delicious bean and cheese taco if you’re skipping meat. Everything is served on flavorful blue corn tortillas, which adds a nice twist to the usual taco fare.
They’re open daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., so it’s best for a breakfast or lunch stop just don’t show up late or you’ll miss out.
2. Budaixi
Finding good Asian food in Puerto Vallarta can be a challenge, but Budaixi nails it with their Taiwanese cuisine. The broth in their dishes is a flavor explosion, and they’ve mastered the art of perfectly cooked noodles. For anyone in search of authentic Taiwanese flavors, Budaixi is a treasure in PV.
Their menu is a delightful journey through Taiwanese favorites, from pork dumplings to crispy fried wontons. But it’s the Bao that steals the show – a soft, steamed bun filled with succulent stewed pork belly, preserved vegetables, cucumber, and a touch of sugared peanuts for a hint of sweetness.

Marisma Fish Taco was always my favorite taco stand back when I lived in Zona Romantica, so imagine my delight when they opened a second location in Versalles. It’s the epitome of quick, delicious fish tacos and seafood dishes, all served in a no-fuss, street taco spot vibe.
Their ceviche and fried fish tacos are amazing, and the prices are super affordable—just 50 pesos for a taco. It’s the kind of place that proves simplicity often leads to the best flavors. 5. OPA
OPA is a fantastic spot for either lunch or dinner, conveniently open from 1 to 10 pm. Just around the corner from my place, it’s become my go-to for a quick falafel fix when hunger strikes.
The outdoor seating area is decked out in charming Greek colors, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere, complemented by their fast service.
The menu shines with perfectly grilled meats and vegetables, capturing the essence of Greek cuisine. While OPA may only have a few tables, making it a bit of a wait on busy nights, I can assure you it’s worth the patience. The quality of the food and the vibe of the place make it a must-visit for anyone looking for a delicious, authentic meal in a quaint setting.
6. Charly’s Work
Open from 12 to 7, Charly’s Work is your quick ticket to satisfying those cravings for Asian cuisine.
The concept is straightforward: pick your base of rice or noodles, then pile on the extras according to your taste. If you’re unsure, the staff are more than happy to recommend their favorites, making ordering a breeze.
Don’t let the no-frills atmosphere fool you; the food here is a hit, especially for vegetarians looking for a hearty meal. Charly’s Work is known for its cleanliness, affordability, and generous portions, ensuring you leave satisfied without breaking the bank.
The service is quick, meaning you won’t have to wait long to dig into some delicious Asian fare. The food is top-notch by Mexican standards, making it the perfect spot for those hangry moments when only a good, flavorful meal will do.

Organic Select is the best place to shop for those looking to nourish their bodies with only the best, most natural ingredients. Dubbed as a “one-stop” shop, it offers everything from fresh groceries and condiments to healthcare products.
But Organic Select isn’t just about shopping; it’s also a fantastic spot for tasty, light meals and refreshing juices. Their coconut kefir is a must-try, along with the often-available gluten-free banana muffins that are as delicious as they are healthy.
Open until 8 pm, it’s the perfect place for grabbing lunch or an early dinner, especially if you’re leaning towards vegan options. The vegan choices here are nothing short of amazing, making it a prime destination for anyone searching for a healthy meal.
8. Urban Dogs
Urban Dogs takes the classic hot dog and burger joint to a whole new level. With an upscale twist on these beloved staples, every bite from their menu is a delightful surprise.

Finding authentic Thai food in Puerto Vallarta has been a challenge, so I was thrilled when Tuk Tuk’s Un Sabor de Asia opened its doors in Versalles. Run by a delightful Thai couple, this cozy spot brings genuine Asian flavors to the neighborhood.
Their menu features all the classics you’d hope for, including rich curries, flavorful pad Thai, and comforting Tom Yum soup. Each dish is crafted with fresh ingredients, delivering the perfect balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy that defines Thai cuisine. The coconut curry stands out with its creamy texture and aromatic spices, while the spring rolls offer a crispy start to your meal.

When I’m craving Italian food in Versalles, Florios has become my go-to spot. The cozy facade hides a spacious backyard dining area adorned with twinkling lights and often live music, creating a magical ambiance. The staff are attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall dining experience.
The menu is a delightful blend of Italian and Argentinean cuisines. I’ve tried both the pizzas and pastas, and they’ve all been fantastic. The gnocchi dish, in particular, stood out – creamy and perfectly cooked. They also offer wood-fired pizzas, grilled steaks, and a variety of salads.

11. Bonito Kitchen
This was one of my go-to spots while living in Zona Romántica, so I was stoked to find out there’s a second location just a short walk from Versalles in Fluvial. It’s not technically in the neighborhood, but close enough to count, especially when you’re craving good Asian food, which can be hit or miss in Vallarta.
Bonito Kitchen serves up a mix of dishes from across Asia, with influences from Vietnam, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. They do a solid job on the classics. The pork belly bao is soft, savory, and everything you want in a handheld bite. Their dumplings are pan-fried to perfection, and the green papaya salad hits that sweet-spicy-crunchy balance just right, especially if you top it with grilled shrimp or soft-shell crab.
If you’re into noodle soups, their tonkotsu ramen is rich and comforting, made with a long-simmered pork bone broth and topped with all the good stuff – chashu, roasted tomato, mushrooms. Saturdays are for phở lovers, with an 18-hour beef broth, oxtail, brisket, and meatballs. I

After hearing numerous recommendations, my foodie group and I recently dined at Caminito Resto Argentino, and it truly delivered. Stepping inside, you’re immediately transported to La Boca, the vibrant neighborhood in Buenos Aires, with interiors painted in lively hues and staff donning football jerseys.
The menu is authentically Argentine, featuring a selection of fine cuts like the tender Flap Meat Sterling Silver High Choice and the juicy Rib Eye Ojo de Bife Sterling Silver High Choice. Beyond steaks, they offer delicious appetizers, empanadas, salads, pastas, choripanes, and milanesas.
I particularly enjoyed starting with the empanadas, and the chimichurri accompanying the steak was perfection.
13. Yeo Sushi
In the Versalles/Fluvial area, Yeo Sushi stands out as my top pick for Japanese cuisine. We celebrated a friend’s birthday here, and the staff graciously reserved the entire upstairs for our group, making the evening special. One of the aspects I appreciate most is their restraint with cream cheese, a common addition in many Mexican sushi spots allowing the fresh flavors of the fish to shine.
Yeo Sushi offers an extensive menu. Their appetizers include sautéed edamame tossed in Vietnamese chili sauce and crispy rice cakes topped with spicy tuna or salmon. For mains, the “Tuna Trufa” roll combines seared tuna with truffle oil, while the “Wagyu Maki” features flamed Wagyu slices and tempura shishito pepper. Beyond sushi, they serve hearty options like “Shoyu Ramen” with chashu pork and “Yakiudon” stir-fried noodles with vegetables and your choice of protein.

This BBQ spot is just around the corner from me, and every time Puglo and I pass by, the enticing aroma of grilled meats grabs our attention. I hadn’t ventured inside until recently when I sampled their offerings at Puerto Vallarta’s Taco Fair, and it was delicious.
Their menu features a variety of wood-grilled meats, including standout dishes like BBQ ribs, rib steaks, and pork. Beyond the meats, they offer a selection of seafood dishes, salads, and sides. The warm, inviting and spacious atmosphere, makes it a great spot for both family dinners and gatherings with friends. If you’re craving authentic BBQ in Versalles, Zenizas is definitely worth a visit.
15. El Chinelo Grill
Another stop for our Versalles foodie group, El Chinelo Grill is a charming family-run eatery that keeps things simple, authentic, and super affordable. It’s the kind of spot where you feel like you’re being welcomed into someone’s home, because you basically are. The service was a little on the slower side, but the food was absolutely worth the wait. This is a great pick for a casual dinner when you’re in the mood for traditional flavors without the frills.
The standout dish here is their pre-Hispanic stew, served bubbling hot in a traditional molcajete. It’s loaded with pork, sun-dried beef, nopal cactus, avocado, cheese, and onions – a total flavor bomb that feels both rustic and special. Their tacos and quesadillas are also solid choices, with fresh tortillas and a range of fillings. If you’re craving meat, the arrachera is tender and well-seasoned, grilled just right.
The space itself is tiny and unpretentious. Just a few tables, including a picnic bench and a high-top. It’s the kind of place you’d miss if you weren’t looking for it, but once you’ve been, you’ll want to go back.
16. Barrio Bistro
Barrio Bistro by Chef Memo Wulff isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a cornerstone in the culinary landscape of Versalles. As one of the first establishments to set up shop here, it played a pivotal role in shaping the neighborhood into the foodie haven it is today.
Step into Barrio Bistro, and you’re immediately enveloped in an atmosphere that’s as warm as it is inviting. The staff are more than just attendants; they’re storytellers, eager to walk you through the menu and share the tales behind each dish. Their attentiveness and friendliness add a personal touch that makes dining here an experience, not just a meal.
The philosophy of Barrio Bistro is simple yet profound – local, fresh ingredients crafted into a new menu every two weeks. This approach not only showcases the best of what’s in season but also keeps you coming back to see what new meals they’ve crafted.
Whether it’s a romantic date night or a lively dinner with friends, Barrio Bistro is the place to be for imaginative dishes, beautifully presented in an ambiance that’s as vibrant as the neighborhood itself.
17. Vagabundas Restaurant Puerto Vallarta
Vagabundas is your go-to in Versalles for a fusion of Asian and Mexican flavors. It’s one of those rare spots where you can satisfy your cravings for Asian cuisine with a unique twist.
The space is welcoming, offering both indoor and outdoor seating, so you can choose your vibe. It’s spacious enough for a group but also perfect for a more intimate dining experience.
The presentation of their dishes is a visual treat – each plate is beautifully crafted, making your meal not just delicious but also Instagram-worthy.
18. Abulon, Antojeria del Mar
If seafood is what you’re after in Versalles, Abulon, Antojeria del Mar is your go-to destination. My visit there was nothing short of fantastic – from the vibe of the place to the service and, most importantly, the food.
It’s clear they know their way around seafood. The seared tuna and shrimp were standout dishes for me, cooked to perfection. Tender, juicy, and full of flavor, they hit all the right notes for seafood lovers. Seriously, everything we tried was delicious and left us planning our next visit back. If you’re in Versalles and craving some top-notch seafood, Abulon is the place to be.
With its large seating area, you’re almost guaranteed a spot even when it’s bustling. This makes it an even more appealing choice for those busy nights when you’re craving some seafood in Puerto Vallarta.
19. El Jardin de la Versalles
El Jardin de la Versalles is quite literally in my backyard – I can see it right now as I’m typing this! It’s become one of my absolute favorite spots to hang out with friends. Imagine chilling in someone’s backyard, lounging on picnic-style seating, and you’ve got the vibe of El Jardin.
The place has this laid-back, welcoming atmosphere that’s hard to find anywhere else. With live entertainment often on the schedule, it’s the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy some good tunes in a casual setting.

While the portions might feel a bit small for the price, the flavors are authentic, and the atmosphere, especially from the balcony, is undeniably charming.

Tacos Sonorita is my go-to spot for Mexican food, especially after work. It’s the kind of place you go to with friends to unwind and indulge in delicious tacos.

Olive Mediterranean Cuisine is a gem that’s been on my radar for a while now. Open for breakfast/brunch until 2 pm and then again for dinner from 4 pm until 11 pm.
Though I’ve yet to dine there myself, my interactions with the friendly staff and the inviting look of the place — complete with a pool out front — have made a strong impression.
Online reviews rave about Olive, with diners praising not just the superb meals but also the ambiance and the service. Now on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Smash Burger takes over the outdoor grill, serving up some of the best hamburgers in town – including a veggie option! It’s a great place to grab a quick and delicious bite, and the combination of Tlali’s inviting atmosphere and Smash Burger’s culinary expertise creates a dining experience that’s both unique and satisfying.
25. La Cigale French Bistro
La Cigale French Bistro has brought its beloved flavors to a new spot in Versalles, keeping the same excellent cuisine that made it a favorite in Puerto Vallarta. The ambiance is inviting, with friendly service and a delightful owner who adds a personal touch.
The French Onion soup is a must-try, and the pommes frites are simply irresistible. Every dish we’ve tried has been a hit, making La Cigale a place you’ll want to return to, not just for the food but for the overall experience.
26. Restaurante Ascencio Tacos y Chelas
Restaurante Ascencio Tacos y Chelas might look unassuming from the outside, but it’s home to some of the best tacos in Versalles. The chef’s dedication is evident in every taco, with vegetarian options that don’t skimp on flavor.
Cleanliness is top-notch, and the Al Pastor tacos are possibly the best you’ll ever taste. The meat is tender, falling right off the bone, elevating these tacos far beyond your typical street fare to something truly gourmet.
